Softball Recap: Ames' Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Ames strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Des Moines East Scarlets a 13-0 shutout. Give the Little Cyclones' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Ames' victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Des Moines East, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Ames didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 victory against Creston on the 6th. As for Des Moines East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
