Westlake had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Farmington Phoenix 14-2 on Friday. Considering the Thunder have won 16 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brilynn Attebery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Attebery was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Pead, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Conder, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Westlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 16-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory was the third in a row for Westlake, bringing their record up to 20-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Farmington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.
