Baseball Recap: Olathe Takes a Loss

Olathe's tournament run continued when they took on Steamboat Springs on Saturday. Olathe took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Steamboat Springs. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jeyden Estrada was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Estrada wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Good, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Good a new career-high. Bridger Vincent was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Olathe's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Steamboat Springs, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Coming up, Olathe will face off against Grand Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something Olathe will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Steamboat Springs, they will take on Moffat County at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
