Preview: McKinney North Bulldogs vs. Sherman Bearcats
McKinney North has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Sherman Bearcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
McKinney North can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They breezed by Greenville at home to the tune of 84-11. Given McKinney North's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Greenville is ranked 1244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McKinney North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ciara Harris, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Hamilton, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sherman scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 75-8 win over Greenville at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Sherman has managed all season.
McKinney North pushed their record up to 21-10 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Sherman, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.
Everything came up roses for McKinney North against Sherman in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 70-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for McKinney North since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
