Softball Recap: Springfield Wins Going Away Against Waterloo

After losing to Waterloo the last time they met, Springfield decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers blew past the Vikings 12-6 on Tuesday. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12th (when they won 15-6).

Springfield got a massive performance out of Gina Romeo, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Those four hits gave Romeo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Koscelansky, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Springfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory got Springfield back to even at 9-9. As for Waterloo, they moved to 7-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Springfield will head out on the road to face off against Girard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Waterloo, they will be playing at home against Mineral Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
