Basketball Game Preview: Skyline Vikings vs. Oakwood Academy Mustangs

The Skyline Vikings will take on the Oakwood Academy Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Skyline is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 75-57 win over Wadley. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Oakwood Academy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.2 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bulldogs 93-59. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

Oakwood Academy's win came from a few key players Skyline will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jadon Williams, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Austin Germono was another key player, going 10-for-18 to rack up 25 points.

Skyline is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Oakwood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 24-8.

Skyline came up short against Oakwood Academy in their previous meeting last Wednesday, falling 50-45. Can Skyline avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
