Basketball Recap: Gavin Hubka Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

Kingsland's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fillmore Central Falcons, sneaking past 72-70. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since February 10, 2024.

Kingsland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Hubka led the charge by going 7 for 11 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. Those 18 points gave Hubka a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Johnson, who went 8 of 18 en route to 19 points.

Kingsland's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Fillmore Central, they moved to 6-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Kingsland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 92-39 win against Lyle/Pacelli on the 14th. As for Fillmore Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-71 victory against Plainview-Elgin-Millville on the 16th.
