It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Maury had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Nansemond River Warriors a 5-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Commodores sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
The result came thanks to Henry Mulvey's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.
On the hitting side, Maury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Hund, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Hunter Gillespie was another, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Maury's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Nansemond River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
