Oberlin hasn't had much luck against Fairview recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Phoenix will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Oberlin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Oberlin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Clearview a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Drew Walter made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Walter was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Liam Steggall was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jayden Green, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Fairview fell victim to Beachwood and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bison, falling 8-0.
Oberlin's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Fairview, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oberlin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fairview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Oberlin couldn't quite get it done against Fairview when the teams last played back in April of 2019 as they fell 7-3. Can the Phoenix avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
