Preview: West Broward Bobcats vs. Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes
The West Broward Bobcats and the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at. West Broward is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-42, which was the final score in West Broward's tilt against Western on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Broward has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Pompano Beach was beaten by Everglades 71-30 on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pompano Beach in their matchups with Everglades: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Pompano Beach had strong showings from Jonathan Berwig, who scored nine points along with five assists, and Mason Rowan, who scored 11 points. Berwig scored a full 30% of Pompano Beach's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kerrick Wiggins, who scored six points.
West Broward's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Pompano Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
West Broward came up short against Pompano Beach in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, falling 61-54. Can West Broward avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
