Softball Game Preview: Northmor Golden Knights vs. Mt. Gilead Indians

Northmor is a perfect 10-0 against Mt. Gilead since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Golden Knights will head out to face off against the Indians at 5:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northmor has four straight victories, Mt. Gilead has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Northmor made easy work of East Knox and carried off a 19-2 win. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Knights this season.

Katalina Roseberry was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Reagan See was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Northmor hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Mt. Gilead lost 23-1 to Centerburg on Wednesday.

Mt. Gilead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Wilt, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Kloe Griffin also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Northmor's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Mt. Gilead, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Mt. Gilead's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northmor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Mt. Gilead, though, as they've only averaged .293. Will they be able to contain Northmor's hitters?

Northmor took their win against Mt. Gilead in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Golden Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
