Basketball Recap: Starmount Piles Up the Points Against West Stokes

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Starmount). They breezed by the West Stokes Wildcats to the tune of 63-23 on Saturday. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 29 points or more this season.

Starmount was led to victory by Carley Money and Molly Swaim. Money went 6 for 8 on her way to 16 points and five steals, while Swaim went 8 of 18 on her way to 22 points and three steals. Money is becoming a predictor of Starmount's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 4-2 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mackinzie Cox, who posted six points.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Starmount, bringing their record for this year to 6-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for West Stokes, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Starmount will square off against Mount Airy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Starmount is facing Mount Airy at the right time seeing as Mount Airy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for West Stokes, they will take on T.W. Andrews at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. T.W. Andrews will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something West Stokes surely won't give up without a fight.
