Baseball Recap: Anthem Prep Takes a Loss

Anthem Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against St. David on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-5 to the Tigers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jaxon MacHugh was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Aidan Wherley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Anthem Prep: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-9 otherwise.

Anthem Prep's record now sits at 8-10. As for St. David, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Anthem Prep nor St. David have any future games scheduled.
