Volleyball Recap: New London Wildcats vs. South Central Trojans
New London lost against South Central back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New London Wildcats fell just short of the South Central Trojans by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
New London took South Central into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-22, 25-12, 19-25, 15-8.
Despite the loss, New London had strong showings from Ava Ringler, who had 33 digs, and Hailie Pylant, who had 15 digs and three aces. Pylant has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Even though they lost, New London was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matches.
Taylor Smith was nothing short of spectacular for South Central: she had 38 digs and two aces.
New London now has a losing record at 10-11. As for South Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
New London wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Monroeville on the 10th. South Central has also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Mapleton on the 10th.
