Soccer Game Preview: Mulberry vs. Lake Wales

The Mulberry Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Lake Wales Highlanders at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Wales took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mulberry, who comes in off a win.

Mulberry is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 8-0 win. The Panthers' winning goal came courtesy of Miguel Pineda.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Lake Wales after they claimed the first score last Friday, but it was Matanzas who ended up claiming the real prize. Lake Wales fell just short of Matanzas by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Pirates are ranked 65th).

Mulberry is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-10-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those five games. As for Lake Wales, they dropped their record down to 8-8-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Mulberry skirted past Lake Wales 2-1 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Mulberry have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Wales turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
