Softball Game Preview: Harrold Hornets vs. Northside Indians

For the first time this season, Harrold will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Northside Indians at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Harrold came up short against Seymour on Tuesday, falling 21-11.

Meanwhile, Northside came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 15-0 shutout. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

A. Reed made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, A. Acosta was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. L. Logsdon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Northside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northside's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Harrold, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Harrold was able to grind out a solid win over Northside in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. Will Harrold repeat their success, or does Northside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
