Softball Recap: Orchard Park Picks Up 17th Straight Win at Home

Orchard Park won the last time they faced Sweet Home and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Quakers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Quakers, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ella Hernandez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Sarah Chojnacki also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Orchard Park pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average this season. As for Sweet Home, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Orchard Park will welcome Frontier at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Quakers 3.1, the Falcons 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Sweet Home, they will square off against Clarence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
