Baseball Recap: Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics Has No Trouble Against Charleston Math & Science

Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Charleston Math & Science, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Riptide with a sharp 16-3 victory on Wednesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Greyson Stampley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Moss, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Hayden Phares was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Charleston Math & Science, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Charleston Math & Science will venture away from home to face off against Lowcountry Leadership at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
