Volleyball Recap: Caldwell Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Caldwell had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the Leon Cougars on Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Caldwell took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-17, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Caldwell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mayzi Witherwax had nine digs and two assists.

Looking ahead, Caldwell will take on West Rusk in a tournament on Thursday. Leon has already played their next game (against Wortham), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
