Baseball Game Preview: Excelsior Springs Tigers vs. Benton Cardinals

The Excelsior Springs Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Benton Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Benton will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Excelsior Springs extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Tigers never let Northeast get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Benton made easy work of Richmond on Tuesday and carried off an 8-1 win. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Excelsior Springs pushed their record up to 23-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Benton, their win bumped their record up to 21-13.

Excelsior Springs might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Benton in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
