Basketball Recap: EPIC Academy Takes a Loss

EPIC Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Southland College Prep, falling 81-14. The The Legends lost against Southland College Prep in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 75-46 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why EPIC Academy lost, don't look at Antwan Donley. Despite the final result, he posted seven points.

Derrick Garth had an outrageously good game for Southland College Prep as he went 7 of 8 on his way to 15 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Garth is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli House, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

EPIC Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Southland College Prep, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

EPIC Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-30 win against Air Force Academy on the 17th. As for Southland College Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-48 victory against Longwood on the 14th.
