Softball Recap: Smoky Mountain Comes Up Short

Smoky Mountain came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-2 to the Murphy Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Smoky Mountain saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mica Tiger-Harlan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Smoky Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Murphy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smoky Mountain will head out to take on Pisgah at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Murphy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Swain County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Swain County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
