Softball Recap: Scott County Takes Down Ranked Crescent

Scott County is ranked highly in their home state and on Sunday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Crescent. Scott County was the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over Crescent. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ada Little made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other pitching news, Addison Langley looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Lauren Jones was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Leidecker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Scott County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Scott County's record now sits at 10-1. As for Crescent, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Scott County will take on Taft at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Crescent, they are taking a road trip to face off against Farragut at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Crescent's pitchers better be ready for this one: Farragut has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
