Hawaii Prep faced Honoka'a in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Ka Makani took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons. The Ka Makani's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Nishiki Iwai was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Hawaii Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Honoka'a, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Hawaii Prep has already played their next game, a 4-2 victory against Ka'u on the 12th. Hopefully Honoka'a payed attention to the Ka Makani's matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Ka Makani at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
