Recap: Nazareth Kingsmen vs. St. Joseph Knights
It was a good run, but the Nazareth Kingsmen unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Joseph. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Tounde Yessoufou was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds for St. Joseph. Yessoufou is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gunner Morinini, who scored 11 points.
Nazareth's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for St. Joseph, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Nazareth on the road again on Tuesday and play against Archbishop Molloy at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Archbishop Molloy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Nazareth is ranked 24th). St. Joseph won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bettye Davis East Anchorage at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Bettye Davis East Anchorage will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
