Softball Game Preview: Grundy County Yellowjackets vs. Signal Mountain Eagles

Grundy County is on a 15-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Signal Mountain a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Grundy County Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Signal Mountain Eagles at 9:30 a.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Grundy County's offense. They came up short against Moore County on Thursday, falling 8-0.

Grundy County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Lowe, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Ellie Foster also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Signal Mountain lost 10-2 to Marion County on Thursday.

Hannah Gill and Berkley Roddy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gill went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Roddy went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Carly Stone, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Signal Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Grundy County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Grundy County took their win against Signal Mountain in their previous meeting back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
