Basketball Recap: Milford Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Bethany Mateo and Madison Moyer

Milford Christian managed to keep up with Calvary Baptist until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Milford Christian Conquerors came up short against the Calvary Baptist Knights, falling 51-31. The Conquerors just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row dating back to last season.

Madison Moyer and Bethany Mateo certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Moyer posted 15 points and four steals, while Mateo almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. That was a full 48.4% of Milford Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Milford Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Milford Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Calvary Baptist, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Milford Christian will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Bayview Christian at 4:00 p.m. on February 4th. Calvary Baptist has already played their next match (against Granite Baptist Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
