Coronado had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Mission Bay on Thursday. The Islanders were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Buccaneers. The victory continues a trend for the Islanders in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won four in a row.

One reason for the win was Coronado's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-16.

Coronado's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Mission Bay, they dropped their record down to 15-9 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
