Baseball Recap: Catholic Central Takes a Loss

Catholic Central had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops, falling 12-5. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bishops apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Mason Meeks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Matthew Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Bishop Rosecrans, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Bishop Rosecrans, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Bishop Rosecrans' side, Hayden Perdue was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Perdue has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Coen Grandstaff was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kohen Harris, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will venture away from home to take on Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Rosecrans, they will face off against Fisher Catholic at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bishops are facing the Irish at the right time seeing as the Irish are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
