Baseball Recap: Liberty Christian Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Northside Christian

Liberty Christian Academy got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Northside Christian Lions. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jackson Cecil and Dawson Kamppi were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cecil didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Kamppi struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Cecil went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Kamppi went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That double was Cecil's first of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Widmer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he has got this season. Another was Drew Fye, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Liberty Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Northside Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
