The Henryville Hornets will challenge the Silver Creek Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Henryville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Henryville is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Brownstown Central just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 9-3 to the Braves. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hornets have suffered since April 22, 2024.
Allie McAfee made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Mylee Marcum was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Silver Creek got the win against Jeffersonville on Monday by a conclusive 16-3. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won nine in a row.
Lily Philpott tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Whitlock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Lily Allen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Silver Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jeffersonville only posted an OBP of .348.
Silver Creek's record now sits at 13-5. As for Henryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Henryville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Silver Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Henryville suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Silver Creek in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
