Softball Game Preview: Westmont Warriors vs. Leland Chargers

The Westmont Warriors will challenge the Leland Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Westmont fell victim to Gilroy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 13-0 to the Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Leland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Branham, falling 21-9.

Irene Kim and Lily O'Hanneson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kim went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs, while O'Hanneson went 2-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kira Yoshioka-Gutierrez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Westmont's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Leland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Westmont took their win against Leland when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 16-6 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
