Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Christian Lions vs. Madison-Grant Argylls

The Liberty Christian Lions will square off against the Madison-Grant Argylls at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Liberty Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Anderson on Tuesday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 20-0. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Madison-Grant, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past Elwood 12-4 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Argylls, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Luke Gilman and Levi Nelson were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Gilman pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Nelson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gilman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gilman scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Nelson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Gilman posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tripp Haisley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Stanley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Madison-Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elwood only managed four hits.

Madison-Grant is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Liberty Christian, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
