Basketball Recap: Union Hill Takes a Loss

Union Hill lost against Sulphur Bluff back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Union Hill Bulldogs took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sulphur Bluff Bears.

Despite the loss, Union Hill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore EJ Mowery posted 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 48.7% of Union Hill's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Dunn, who earned seven points and five steals.

Union Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Sulphur Bluff, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Hill will host Saltillo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sulphur Bluff, they will square off against Avinger at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
