Baseball Game Preview: Houghton Gremlins vs. Negaunee Miners

The Houghton Gremlins will face off against the Negaunee Miners at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Negaunee is facing Houghton at the wrong time: Houghton suffered their first home loss of the season on Monday and they're likely out for redemption. They came up short against the Flivvers, falling 11-3.

Meanwhile, while Negaunee put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Iron Mountain. The Miners put the hurt on the Mountaineers with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Miners have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Morgan Robar was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Slater, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Negaunee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Negaunee pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Houghton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
