Football Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Rams vs. Centralia Orphans

The Mt. Vernon Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Centralia Orphans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centralia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. Vernon, who comes in off a win.

Mt. Vernon is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Granite City, posting a 62-6 victory. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 55 points the game before, Centralia was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a 40-8 loss at the hands of Cahokia. The Orphans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.

Centralia moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Mt. Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Mt. Vernon suffered a grim 42-16 defeat to Centralia when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
