Centreville took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against South Lakes, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Seahawks on Thursday. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dylan Hassan looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Centreville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Weber, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Weber also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Centreville and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for South Lakes, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Centreville will challenge Ridley at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Wildcats are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for South Lakes, they will take on Carmel Christian in a tournament on Monday.
