Soccer Recap: Veterans Memorial Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Veterans Memorial was not quite Los Fresnos's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Los Fresnos Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Falcons are ranked 42nd).

Veterans Memorial's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-7-1. As for Los Fresnos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3-1 record this season.

Looking ahead, Veterans Memorial will face off against San Benito at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. San Benito is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season. As for Los Fresnos, they will welcome Harlingen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
