Football Recap: Oologah Mustangs vs. Cushing Tigers

Oologah lost against Cushing back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs had to suffer through a 49-21 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Tigers are ranked 26th).

Roman Tucker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cushing, throwing for 223 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Tucker didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception. 88 of Tucker's passing yards were hauled in by Lane Simpson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Oologah and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Cushing, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Oologah is set to take on their familiar foe Catoosa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cushing will challenge rival Wagoner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Tucker and Keyshaun Brown.
