Basketball Recap: Cotulla Comes Up Short

If Cotulla was feeling good fresh off their 51-30 takedown of La Pryor on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cowboys fell 56-43 to the Incarnate Word Academy Angels on Friday.

Incarnate Word Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abbey Sachanowicz, who posted 15 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Bella Taylor was another key player, shooting 70% from the field to rack up 19 points.

Cotulla has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Cotulla will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Poteet at 6:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-20 victory against Annapolis Christian Academy on the 6th.
