Volleyball Recap: Buckeye Hawks vs. Estrella Foothills Wolves

Buckeye had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Estrella Foothills Wolves by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Hawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Buckeye wouldn't go down easily and took Estrella Foothills into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 17-25, 24-26, 15-12.

Payton Sims paced Buckeye's offense, picking up 12 kills. Sims got some help from Peyton Young and her 16 assists. Sims was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Estrella Foothills was led to victory by Giselle Wochner and Sadie Snyder. Wochner had 13 digs and six assists, while Snyder had 21 kills and 15 digs. That's the most digs Wochner has posted since back in October of 2024.

Buckeye wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Heritage Academy on the 29th. As for Estrella Foothills, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Odyssey Institute on the 29th.
