Football Recap: Doherty Memorial Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Doherty Memorial lost against Leominster back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Highlanders fell 21-14 to the Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 20th).

Leominster can attribute much of their success to Osiris Lopez, who rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 168 yards and one TD.

This is the second loss in a row for Doherty Memorial and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Leominster, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doherty Memorial will challenge Shepherd Hill Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leominster, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Wachusett Regional at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
