Ayden Smith posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Tuesday. He struck out five batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk), good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Smith's strong effort led Effingham County over Evans and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
