Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Gonzaga Prep's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Gonzaga Prep lost to Mead back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Bullpups were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Bullpups, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Cole Harvey looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Grant Yost was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jaxon Buckner also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Gonzaga Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mead only posted an OBP of .308.

Gonzaga Prep is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Mead, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Gonzaga Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
