Soccer Game Preview: Glenbard West vs. Lincoln-Way East

The Glenbard West Hilltoppers will face off against the Lincoln-Way East Griffins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Glenbard West fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Hinsdale Central on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way East hadn't done well against Sandburg recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Griffins' defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 1-0 shutout. Given Lincoln-Way East's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Sandburg are ranked 150th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glenbard West's loss dropped their record down to 9-4-4. As for Lincoln-Way East, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3-1 record this season.
