Basketball Recap: Fisher Catholic Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Fisher Catholic can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 51-22 loss at the hands of the Waterford Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 59 points in the game before, the Irish couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Fisher Catholic saw an underclassman step up: freshman Hadli Gillum posted 11 points and six rebounds. What's more, Gillum also posted a 43% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydney Ellis, who had four points and five boards.

With the defeat, Fisher Catholic broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points on average over those games. As for Waterford, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 24-1.

Fisher Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waterford, they have already played their next contest, a 50-34 victory against Hiland on the 1st.
