Softball Recap: Notre Dame Academy Takes a Loss

Notre Dame Academy dropped their record down to 10-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Highlands Bluebirds by a score of 7-6. The Pandas were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluebirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Highlands, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

For Highlands' part, the team relied heavily on Alli Meyers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Layla Zepf was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Academy will take on Boyle County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Highlands, they will square off against Campbell County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bluebirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Camels have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
