Basketball Recap: Sugar Creek Wildcats vs. Piedmont Community Charter Patriots
The Sugar Creek Wildcats lost against the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sugar Creek was beaten by the Patriots 56-11. Sugar Creek has struggled against the Patriots recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Sugar Creek saw an underclassman step up: Infiniti Green scored two points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Piedmont Community Charter was led to victory by Bree Phillips and Lyric Brown. Phillips scored 11 points along with seven steals, while Brown scored nine points along with six steals. Brown hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Aubree Cammer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sugar Creek dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.2 points per game. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.
Sugar Creek will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Stallions at 5:30 p.m. Queen's Grant comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they will head out on the road to take on the Owls at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
