Soccer Game Preview: Victoria West vs. Fort Bend Marshall

The Victoria West Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Victoria West has ten straight wins, Fort Bend Marshall has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Victoria West is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Terry 11-0 on Tuesday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Marshall didn't have quite enough to beat Victoria East on Tuesday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Buffalos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 777th, while the Titans are ranked 332nd).

Fort Bend Marshall's goal came courtesy of Yuliana Guerrero Garcia, who's now up to two this season.

Victoria West pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those seven contests. As for Fort Bend Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.

Everything went Victoria West's way against Fort Bend Marshall in their previous matchup back in February, as Victoria West made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Victoria West since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
