Softball Recap: Packinghouse Christian Academy Starts off Right with Win over Norton Science & Language Academy

Packinghouse Christian Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets with a sharp 18-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bears as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Emily Toma was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Toma was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Hopkins, who scored three runs and stole Seven bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Madison Katsikaris was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Packinghouse Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .923. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norton Science & Language Academy only posted an OBP of .250.

Norton Science & Language Academy dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Packinghouse Christian Academy will challenge Bethel Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bethel Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, they will be playing at home against Calvary Baptist at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
